Janie Lanteigne MD, FRCP(C)
Child psychiatrist
Dr. Janie Lanteigne completed her medical and postdoctoral training in psychiatry and child psychiatry at the Université de Sherbrooke. With over 20 years' experience in child psychiatry, she has also been a clinical professor at the university's Faculty of Medicine since 2008. She was awarded the title of Founding Fellow for the subspecialty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and is also an examiner within this institution for certifications in general psychiatry and child psychiatry.
Her expertise has been particularly developed in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorders in children. Aware of the often silent suffering of these young people and the parents who want to help them, Dr. Lanteigne favours an approach that integrates individual and family interventions, using pharmacotherapy only when necessary. Welcoming, authentic and passionate about her work, she places great importance on a careful assessment of symptoms to establish a medical diagnosis, the essential basis for determining the best interventions, according to best practices.
